  • 4. What is Samsung Pay?
    Preview
Samsung Pay uses near-field communications (NFC) technology to process payments at tap-to-pay terminals. The system also works with most older magnetic-strip terminals, which are still widely deployed throughout retailers in the United States. Samsung Pay uses magnetic secure transmission (MST) when the phone is held against one of these terminals. The phone emits a magnetic signal that simulates the magnetic strip found on the back of a credit card.
  • 5. Are my payments safe with Samsung Pay?
    Preview
Samsung Pay does not store account or credit card numbers on the device, but instead uses tokenization for transactions. Each time a purchase is made, the Samsung Pay device sends two pieces of data to the payment terminal. The first piece of data is a 16-digit token that represents the credit card number, while the second piece is a one-time code or cryptogram that's generated by the phone's encryption key.
